NIAMA EL BASSUNIE

Niama is the founder and CEO of WaystoCap, which is an online B2B marketplace for businesses in Africa to buy and sell goods. Beyond just product discovery, the online platform facilitates verification, logistics, financing and payments for African businesses. She started her company in 2015 and is currently based in Casablanca.

Before establishing her startup in Morocco, she worked mainly in Africa (Guinea and Togo) and in the United Kingdom (London). But it’s her work in Conakry (Guinea) as a Strategic Advisor for Guinea Invest that changed everything. She realized the potential of the region and the possibilities for the young generation to thrive in multiple fields. She says: “These 8 months in Conakry were not only personally rewarding, but it was also the beginning of the adventure that led to WaystoCap. A young population combined with an entrepreneurial spirit is an asset. We are confident that the next wave of innovation and development will come from Africa, of which we want to be part”.

Her startup managed to integrate the most famous accelerator in the world “Y combinator”, where DropBox and AirBnB came from.

Moreover, she is a CFA Charterholder (CFA Institute is a global association of investment professionals).
