AYAH BBDEIR

Ayah Bdeir is the founder and CEO of littleBits since 2011. LittleBits makes a platform of easy-to-use electronic building blocks empowering everyone to create inventions, large and small. They make technology kits that are fun, easy-to-use, and infinitely creative. The kits are composed of electronic building blocks that are color-coded, magnetic, and make complex technology simple and fun for the kids.

Ayah Bdeir earned a Master’s of Science degree from the MIT Media Lab and undergraduate degrees in Computer Engineering and Sociology from the American University of Beirut. In 2008, she was awarded a fellowship at Eyebeam in New York City. She has taught graduate classes at NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program (ITP) and Parsons The New School for Design. In 2010, she served as a design mentor on the reality TV show, Stars of Science.

Ayah is an engineer, interactive artist, and one of the leaders in the free material movement. During her education and career, she is committed to advancing free material to make education and innovation even more accessible around the world. She has won more than 15 awards, participated in 9 major projects such as Talk To Me: A show at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and is an eminent member of TED.
