YASMINE EL-MEHAIRY

Yasmine founded Coushies in 2016. It’s a Cairo-based startup with a social and artistic agenda that capitalizes on the talent of local artists whom hand paints the designs on canvas, then designs are digitized and printed on different materials. The goal of this start-up is to expand and to contract more and more local artists, artisans and NGOs. Yasmine is extremely dynamic and passionate with multiple achievements to her credit. Coushies is one of her latest creation. Before that, she co-founded SuperMama which is an online media companies, produces content and video focusing on mothers and parenting, but also Megarrab which was the first Egyptian crowdsourced medical review website.

SuperMama was her first major achievement and a true statement on women status in the MENA region. She says: “Mothers feel like it’s their responsibility to take care of everything by themselves. They feel that if they ask their husbands to do the dishes or carry the baby every now and then that makes them ‘less of a good mother”. She believed that the gender perception in the region was biased and needed to be changed, so she created SuperMama to help mothers and women in general.

Yasmine holds a Bachelor degree in Computer and Information Sciences from the Ain Shams University. She holds a Master degree in Interactive Media from the University of Westminster and a MBA in Marketing and Strategy from the London Business School.
