Najla Al Ansari founded the Polished Spa in 2011. It is a luxury day spa located behind University City Road in Sharjah where every woman can come to relax. The Spa is specialized in body and nail care. She built her own business because she believes that: “entrepreneurship is a powerful tool to empower young Emirati women to dream big”. Starting a company as a woman in her country wasn’t an easy thing to do, she says: “My family doesn’t have a business background, so it was really scary for them. It was a huge risk”. ““The challenges that Emirati women face do exist when it comes to networking events, travelling, and so on. It is very hard, especially for Emirati women, to manage between being conservative and being out there, which is what running a business requires”. However, regarding all these challenges, Najla saw an opportunity and took a chance which paid out marvelously.
Najla is also a board member of the Pink Caravan which is a non-profit organization initiated by Friends of Cancer Patients (Focp) to raise breast cancer awareness across the UAE. Moreover, aside of this activity, Najla is the marketing and outreach manager at the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center since 2015. She graduated in 2010 from the American University of Sharjah with a Bachelor of Business Administration, Marketing and Marketing Management.
